First cucumber of the season...

I wish I remembered what kind... Suyo? Probably Southern Delight... in any case, this "style" of cucumber (Asian long) is the best for Central Florida potage... I grow mine up rebar trellises, and embrace the idea that you cannot overwater a cucumber... Lots more on the way.

    I have a problem with small worms that punch holes in the small fruit. I gave up on cukes. I might try them again with diatomatous earth.

    Wow-I can't wait for mine! I made homemade pickles for the first time last year and can't wait to have some again. 'National Pickling' seemed to do ok for me, I'll have to try some Asian cukes.

    I live in KY so I haven't put out cucumbers yet! My tiller broke down, so I am stalling to get this fixed in order to directly sow cucumber this week.

    Now I know what the little worms are. I just cut them out. My problem is I only got two nice cucumbers this year, from 6 plants. This is my first garden in about 20 years. I think I had too much in a small garden. I plan on doubling the size of the garden for my winter garden.
