I need to get back to regular blogging! Dug out my front summer bed and transplanted my (sorry little) seedlings into it. Also planted seeds of the usual suspects: Onions, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, and some hardier salad greens (arugula, cress).
Nice to see you post again. Those persimmons look awesome. Your dirt looks killer too.
I just had a record yield of sweet potatoes and had to post about it. I hope you got plenty of rain down there over the summer. N/C Florida has been drenched this year.
Hiya, I live in SW FL, and would LOVE your know your recommendations for planting times, and your view of the best choices for each vegetable you select. I heard that the poinsett cucumber was best for resistance to mold/mildew. This was recommended to me by my local county extension office, and was curious about your recommendations too. Also, what do you do to the soil for prep or amendments?
flrn64-- i like all sorts of cukes in the garden. search for cucumber in the blog--there are some recommendations. poinsett is pretty good. i also REALLY like the long, asian varieties. more important than varietal, i think, is timing: you have a window in spring where it doesn't matter what cuke you grow. then the rains and humidity increases, and you have to rely on nasty fungicides. best to get them in, as large seedlings, as early as possible.

That looks awesome! Recently found you from a link on sustainable seed co's site. Just got my garden up and running for the fall a couple weeks ago.
