Typical spring broccoli. I've been harvesting heads from the same plants for months now, and each time they produce a head, it's a bit smaller than the last. These plants are still healthy and productive, but I'll probably only take one or two more cuttings from them, as the stems are getting woody and the yield is decreasing. That will leave me more room in my main bed for... I dunno. Cukes? Squash? Something...

It looks great.
This year is my first year with broccoli and I started straight from seed in the ground. The plants are big and look great but I'm still waiting for the actually broccoli stems to appear. LOL.
Happy Harvesting
So it's not too late for cukes or squash? I was planning to plant last week, but when I checked the almanac the best time is next week...think that's too late for Central Florida? It'll be sooo hot soon! Want to plant cukes, squash, beans, maybe some corn...
it's probably not too late, especially if you can find seedlings. cukes don't mind a little afternoon shade, and if you mulch them heavily, they can be productive during hot weather. eventually, though, they'll succumb to fungus of some sort or another. it's kind of a race--can i keep this cuke wet enough without fungus until ti produces a decent crop? there are fungicides but most of them are pretty nasty. nothing organic really works (according to here: http://web.pppmb.cals.cornell.edu/resourceguide/cmp/cucurbit.php#d4)
then there's the #(*^%# pickleworm, which brings the season to a screeching halt
