Endless possibilities

Hi! I was looking through some of your old posts and saw that you have grown cassava. Do you still grow it? Where can I get some?

i don't grow it any longer. i got mine from an old cuban friend... if you ask around at garden groups, you can often find a cutting. i finally decided that there were better crops that were less trouble (peanuts, sweet potatoes)...

It's funny you mention cuban friend. I'm from Miami and my parents are from El Salvador and Dominican Republic. I was hoping to grow it as a surprise for them. I live in DeLand. Do you know of any groups where I can begin my search? Many, many thanks!

Blooming in my yard is milkweed; lots of it this year. It is quickly being eaten by the monarch caterpillars. I cage a couple every season, just so the lizards don't get all of them!
The roses are big and beautiful, and the rosemary smells great. I'll get as many peppers and tomatoes off these plants before the cold snap as I can.
I had dry sweet potatoes, also. I'll amend the soil better for next year. The two young girls behind me enjoy getting there hands in the soil with me. Sometimes I come home and they've done some watering or picking. It's a great joy to see. I love your blog, glad I found it. Sheri

That soil looks good enough for planting and gardening. It can definitely give you a good number of crops come the right time. Good luck!
